We're Gonna Party Rock Till The Day Comes Up!

Characters: EVERYONE
Setting: Floor 38
Format: Whatever you feel comfortable with. Prose, action, it's all good.
Summary: The giant party is finally here! Mingle, Blind date and strange things ahoy!
Warnings: WHO KNOWS WHAT MIGHT HAPPEN.

Floor Thirty-Eight. Normally just a simple lounge, it was now Party Central.

It was clear Eikichi had put all of his heart into it. Say what you wanted about him, but he was a good manager and organizer. The place didn't look the same, with the flower bouquets strewing in odd corners, the bright pieces of tissues hung around like garlands. They had no balloons so they made with. A few banners hung into the air, the words crudely painted with Maya's name and wishing her a happy birthday. There was also a few others with the names of the birthdays Eikichi had managed to get.

At the entrance, there was a a few large baskets filled with corsages that Jun had prepared - acacias white (friendship and chaste love), yellow (secret love) and pink (friendship), white violets (Purity; Candor; Modesty; Innocence; Let's take a chance on happiness) and pink roses (Perfect happiness, please believe me; Friendship) expertly woven pieces of stems and grass meant it required no other materials than the flower themselves.

Of course, the meanings were not written. You just had a few to chose from. Then you could offer one to your date to wear on their hand...if you wished.

As Eikichi had said, no pressure.

...Except for coming, of course.

Those that were part of the blind dates had each been given a small piece of paper with a symbol.As they entered they could see a small sign instructing to try and find the other person with the same symbol. This would be their 'date' of the night.

On the farthest left to the entrance, they had dragged in a gigantic music system, with an area for a DJ to run (Tatsuya had helped with the wiring). Some large pieces of metals had been lined up to cover the floor, making a fake stage and on top of that, he had placed various instruments - along with those of his band, of course. The stage would be open for them to play later, regardless.

The main area reserved for food was a few tables that had been dragged in here, covered with whatever tissues they had found and filled with all the food they could take - some of it was typical stuff found in the cafeteria this week (but no gross stuff - Eikichi didn't want living maggots in his cheese today), the rest had been made by those nice enough to help with the cooking. There wasn't that much typical 'party food' as creating your own sweets and chips does take a while, but the jerky meats, the hot soups and the vegetables more than made up for it. The drinks were placed right besides it and who knew how many trips they had needed to set it all up.

There were also cakes on the next table, enough to feed at least everyone in the part a generous slice. Considering the ingredients and the people involved they ranged from the very simple to baked pies using the available fruits, and a single cake which appeared to have more work than the others. They did with what they had, and it was fantastic they had so much at all.

All the chairs and bags found in that room normally were tossed in a corner facing the central area so that people could sit down if they felt like it, but the central area was reserved to talk, mingle and dance once everything REALLY got underway.

It would soon too, once the crowds started to get bigger and bigger.

He sounds so cute.

[ Ishtar laughed, imagining the small little creature. It reminded her of the bat that was with her. He was a rather tiny thing himself. Ishtar placed a hand over her mouth to cover her giggles. ]

I would like to meet your gerbil one day. Oh....wow, he's a smart little thing isn't he?

[Elian shrugs shyly with his hands behind his back and one foot toeing the carpet in a semi-circle.]

I guess he just liked shiny things.

[Not to mention how he worked the latch of his cage to get out, Elian nearly stepped on him a couple of times and had to put a luggage lock on the cage door. He still carries the tiny key.]

Thankfully he never found the keys to his cage.

[He holds up the dogtags with the tiny gold key on the chain.]

[ Elian needed to stop being cute, because Ishtar didn't know how to treat him. They've only known each other for a short time, and if she just hugged him out of nowhere, the kid might think she was crazy or something! ]

You got the ring back right?

[ She replied with a small smile. That was something that Ishtar had to see. He had one intelligent little gerbil there. ]

That's a good thing isn't it?

[ She chuckled a little. ]

Ahaha, you keep it on you?

Yes, I had to or he would find a way to use it. They have hands like us only much smaller.

[He tucked the dogtags back into his shirt.]

I did get it back. It was the one Dad got me for my twelfth birthday. He had a matching one. I only wore it on special occasions, because I didn't want it to get lost. I don't exactly have long fingers.

[He holds out his hands with his fingers spread out to show the thick digits of his small, child-like hands.]

Small hands and big feet, yep, I can stomp pretty good but I can't hold a lot of things very well. I guess that's why I wasn't fond of anything hot. I was too afraid to spill it.

They're small little things aren't they?

[ She mused with a small chuckle as he said that. ]

Oh, I see. It must be a pretty important item to you then.

[ She nodded her head. Of course, she knew that she could also relate to him in that manner. The sword that was at her side had seen so much bloodshed and sadness until it fell into her hands, and even then, she thought that souls were crying. It's been over a hundred years since this sword was used in war. ]

Aw, but you're too cute with your small hands Elian. I'm sure you wouldn't burn yourself or anything hehe.

[He looked up with a puzzled expression for a moment and took what she said very literally.]

I wasn't allowed near the stove, and I stunk at track. Running with my canoe feet only tripped me.

[That and he tripped up those that were running with him to get away from Mujo completely by accident.]

[ Ishtar made a face, figuring it out pretty fast that he just took that literally. He was kind of like Gaara, maybe a little worse. Ishtar laughed nervously. ]

I didn't mean it like that, sweetie.

[ She mused putting her hands up. She didn't even know how to phrase it with him. ]

[He looks at his hands again, and then turns them with the palms up.]

Um... okay. I guess I'm pretty good with them, if that's what you mean. I can type really fast. It's not that hard a skill anyway. Have I completely misunderstood?

[His face colored slightly when she mentioned cute. He wasn't sure how to take it.]

Oh, that... um, thanks? Do you really think so?

[ Ishtar just chuckled a little. ]

Never mind, it's nothing important.

[ She replied still stifling a laugh. ]

...You're way too adorable for a kid your age, so yes hehe.

[ She didn't even blink when she said that to him. There was just a grin plastered on her face. ]

[He blinks and shrugs it away. Her giggle makes him nearly blush again from her response. He lets out a small giggle himself unknowingly.]

That's a good thing. If I can, I think I'll be okay knowing that I have something good in my favor in the public relations department. Wow, come to think of it, I really have some work to do, don't I?

[ He really needed to stop being affected by all the giggles, or he would end up laughing with Ishtar for a long time. Eventually, Ishtar stopped laughing and listened to his words. ]

Yep, it's nice to have something that people like about you.

[ She replied running a hand through her hair. ] Gosh, you sound like one of those politicians. I suppose you do, don't you, Elian?

[ She grinned. ]

If you need any help at all, I'll try my best to help you out in that department.

Really?

[He never thought about politics up until now. Maybe that's what he could do to help once he finds out the truth about this place and finally set things straight back home... but there was one problem. There was no home to go back to and he sighed.]

Well, I guess so. For now, let's just hope that all of this is false and we wake up in our own worlds to the truth. I don't want to think that we're stuck here for the rest of our lives just yet.

Yeah...really.

[ She replied with a big carefree grin on her face. Ishtar wasn't sure how the world worked out here, but she knew that if it was anything similar to Facility, then there definitely was something wrong here. She still remembered what Hei had told her about this place, and she certainly didn't feel like wanting to meet these 'saviours' that took them from their world, to save them from their impending doom.

It was believable, but still not something Ishtar would easily agree with. ]

I hope that it's the case as well. I don't really want to believe this mumbo jumbo they fabricated up fro us....but if it is true, then I guess we don't have much of a choice but to believe it. Still, there still needs to be evidence for all of this.

[Elian wasn't about to just take it lying down either. He would make it appear that he's compliant, but with his training, it's almost a guarantee that he would launch a passive rebellion right under the Administrator's nose. Right now, everything isn't in the right place and the conditions are not met. Right now, he had to worry about his place so get himself into position.

Right now, he needed to establish a network of trusted people and only two fit that criteria so far.]

Don't believe it, just comply for now. We don't know enough to strike back just yet.

[ It was good that they shard some of the same views. Ishtar didn't want to take it lying down just as much as Elian didn't. Ishtar knew that she couldn't do much by herself, but establishing relationships should help her in a long run. Elian seemed trustworthy and he didn't look like someone who lied. Ishtar was prepared to back him up if he needed it. ]

Yeah...I know what you mean. We're going to have to be careful about this.

I have a plan.

[Elian's smile grew the instant he thought of it. Of course it would take time but disguising information exchanges as language lessons did prove beneficial. All he needed was the right catalyst and the timing had to be perfect.]

What kind of plan do you have in mind, Elian?

[ She mused questioning what he had just said to her. He seemed like he knew what he was doing, so she'd play along with it and see what he had to offer. He was trustworthy enough. ]

Information exchange in the form of a language class. This way, it's low-key, easy to hide and the Administrators can't trace it easily.

[It was the start of something much larger in scale through the appearance of something so innocent and small.]

This way, if our translators no longer work, we can still communicate. There's more. We can encode messages, subtle ones, in these languages through metaphors or anecdotes, which seems like we're telling a story but in reality, we're sending messages.

It sounds complicated, but it's really simple to learn.

So kind of like encoding a message using codes and strange keywords right?

[ Ishtar remembered the group of people she communicated with at Facility for a while. They always had strange tasks for her to do, but she never questioned them. She executed them quietly, but never tried to do anything that would have been harmful to others. Ishtar didn't understand a lot of things, but she was somehow making her way there. ]

Oh...so that's exactly what I thought then. We used to have something like that..back there.

[ Ishtar replied nodding her head when he answered the question for her in his explanation. ]

....I wouldn't mind, since I kind of know what you mean by it.

[He gives a nod in response.]

Something like that only without the use of a strange keyword. That could be discovered too quickly by some here that might have the knowledge to do decipher them. We would need something that only we would know what it is commonly to begin with. Since the Facilty seems to be a common word among us, we can use that as the start of the message.

For example: I'm not feeling well today. I was thinking of speaking with someone from the Facility to determine the cause.

This could mean, I need to talk to you, Ishtar, in private at the infirmary. I might have discovered something that might be of interest. We can't make the code too obvious otherwise it would tip off some questionable people. Using another language is another means of doing so, but that can take time. So for now, we'll use metaphors in place of those keywords.

[ Ishtar blinked. ]

Yeah, that's what I kind of meant....yeah....

[ This kid was way too smart for his own good sometimes, but she didn't mind. Ishtar could learn a thing or two from the boy. He was good at what he was doing obviously. She nodded her head. ]

Ah...so that's how you do it....kind of tiring mentally...though.

[ Because she had to think, and Ishtar certainly didn't like to think a lot. She took his words into consideration though. He was right. That message seemed perfectly normal, but if they read in between the lines, then there was the hidden messages. ]

It's okay. It takes practice to learn it. It can be tiring at first, but once you learn how to do it, it becomes easier.

[It was something that he was used to throughout his time at HOLY and everything was done by the book. As time went on, and matters became more complicated, they needed the codes to work with precision. Smuggling the information out was even more difficult when the Mainland started bringing in soldiers.

Elian's job became even more complicated. Slowly, he discovers that the Tower is not much different and everything had to work. There is no need for harsh words. He has time to prepare as long as Ishtar is willing to learn.]

I guess, I'll take a shot at it and see how it will go.

[ She replied giving him a small smile for that. She wouldn't mind learning about things here. She could use the experience. It seemed like Elian had a lot to do when he was home.

Ishtar knew he was capable, but if she knew he was able to do all of that, she would be more surprised. ]

I'll try my best. I can't promise that I'll be good at it though....sorry.

It's okay. Don't push yourself. It's normal for people to learn at a pace that's good for them. I have to learn not to push so hard.

[He knew that she was trying which really helped him to understand her a little better. At least now he had something to go by other than what he experienced at HOLY. People were different here and that made him feel just as unique and a lot more human.]

[ she grinned. Ishtar often overworked herself for things like this. She wanted to make sure that she would be able to handle things the right way in the future. Any moment she got to learn about things, Ishtar was going to take full advantage of it. ]
